The Story Behind the Name TheDarkRoomArtist and Its Deep Meaning

Tshepiso contemplates the beginnings of his artistic journey, acknowledging that it was born in a poorly lit setting. From a young age, he cultivated a fondness for a rarely utilised room in his house that was devoid of light. “At times, I would step into that area and seize images in the shadows, and for me, that signified the start of something meaningful.”

Tshepiso underscores the significance of authenticity. “No matter if I reach the heights as the leading visual artist in the country, I will always maintain my humility, as that is my inherent character,” he expressed.

“Unfortunately, like in many other regions, we exist in a nation filled with gatekeepers, yet we cannot persist in repeating the same narratives. We must simply do what we can and value our craft,” Tshepiso commented.

As the emerging youth of this nation, it is our duty to embrace our passions, respect our creations, and honour those for whom we create, he emphasised.

TheDarkRoomArtist is excited about his forthcoming projects. Most importantly, he intends to continue sharing the knowledge he has acquired and to act as a lasting source of inspiration for future generations.
