With applications now officially open, THE HUB persists in its mission to disrupt cycles of poverty through skills development, accredited training, and practical industry exposure, supported by measurable outcomes from prior cohorts.

First launched in 2023, THE HUB is a six-month, Level 5 SETA-accredited internship programme that provides 11 young individuals from Tembisa and nearby regions with essential skills in event management, design, and entrepreneurship.

Since its establishment, the programme has evolved into a sustainable talent pipeline, with numerous graduates still actively securing work opportunities through the Shimuzic Foundation, its partner organisations, and significant events held throughout the year.

From extensive productions to community-oriented projects, former interns persist in acquiring paid experience, mentorship, and industry exposure, thereby strengthening the programme’s enduring influence beyond the duration of the internship.

“THE HUB was never designed to be a once-off intervention,” said Shimza, Founder of the Shimuzic Foundation.

“Our goal was to create a platform that equips young people with skills they can use long after the programme ends. Seeing graduates still involved in our events and projects today tells us we’re building something sustainable and meaningful,” he explained.

He adds that the programme’s return in 2026 reflects a commitment to consistency and accountability. “When knowledge is shared with purpose, it becomes power. THE HUB exists to open doors, create access and help young people build real futures in the events and creative industries.”

The continued partnership with the Hollywood Foundation remains central to THE HUB’s success.
“At the Hollywood Foundation, we believe youth development must lead to real economic participation,” says Vuyisile Ngobese, Public Relations Officer at the Hollywood Foundation.

“Our partnership with the Shimuzic Foundation enables us to move beyond theory and into action, where young people are trained, supported and then placed into real working environments.”She adds:

“The success of THE HUB since its launch in 2023 shows what is possible when organisations collaborate with intention. As the programme returns in 2026, we are proud to continue supporting a model that addresses youth unemployment through skills, experience and opportunity.”

KEY FEATURES OF THE HUB INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:
