Curated by the renowned guitarist Billy Monama, this four-hour musical experience features a 20-piece orchestra conducted by Grammy Award–winning producer Joe “JB” Arthur, along with some of South Africa’s most esteemed artists.
In a conversation with the Joburg Theatre media team, Monama expressed that this event transcends a mere concert, it serves as a cultural statement.
It’s about remembering who we are, honouring where we come from, and imagining a more compassionate future together.
The impressive lineup includes Lira, Zoë Modiga, Vusi Nova, Tutu Puoane, and Monama, with the esteemed guitarist Jimmy Dludlu serving as the honorary artist. Together, they deliver a heartfelt tribute to the sounds, narratives, and essence that have influenced South Africa’s cultural identity.
By merging jazz, soul, and African musical traditions, Rebirth of Ubuntu transcends a mere concert—it embodies a celebration of unity, heritage, and the lasting spirit of ubuntu.
