The 130th edition of the Hollywoodbets Durban July is scheduled for this Saturday, 4 July, at the Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse in Durban.

Equine superstars and fashion designers are offering a preview of this year’s theme, ‘Country Allure’. A multitude of celebrities from various fields gathered in large numbers at the Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse recently, as twelve runners for the Hollywoodbets Durban July were presented to an eager audience during the traditional public gallops, in anticipation of Africa’s premier horseracing event on 4 July.

In a recent press release, the Hollywood Foundation declared that the excitement of the Hollywoodbets Durban July has firmly taken hold of the holiday province. The impressive attendance, coinciding with the dawn of a new day in Durban, establishes an optimistic atmosphere for the upcoming 130th renewal on the first Saturday of July, where Africa’s richest race will take place, now with a prize pool of R10 million, sponsored by the prominent sportsbook operator Hollywoodbets for the sixth consecutive year.

“The public gallops are designed to illustrate the wellbeing of the individual runners, and the twelve locally domiciled thoroughbreds were timed over various distances, with recorded gallops of those still based on the Highveld broadcast for the enthusiastic audience, who enjoyed pastries and coffee while finding their winners,” the press statement read.

Renowned South African champion trainer Justin Snaith has achieved victory in the prestigious race five times and expressed satisfaction with the performances of his five contenders. Among them is the filly Wish List, who will be ridden by 59-year-old former South African champion jockey Andrew Fortune. The native of Elsies River in the Cape exuded confidence and has the potential to make history as the oldest jockey to win this significant race in the modern era.

A notable winner this morning was former owner and avid racing enthusiast Dale Nel, who was presented with the keys to his brand-new Polo Vivo. Dale participated in the Hollywoodbets Season of Champions campaign, which allows players who place a minimum bet of R50 online or in-branch to enter for a chance to win cars and other exciting prizes. The next car giveaway will take place on Hollywoodbets Durban July Day, followed by another on Gold Cup Day at the conclusion of the season.
