This collaboration serves as a powerful conduit between the studio and the showroom. By integrating NAC-funded artists into the RMB Latitudes Art Fair and its digital counterpart, Latitudes Online, the partnership provides creators with expanded access to collectors, curators, and leading art institutions. More than a conventional exhibition platform, INDEX 2026 prioritises professional development, market exposure, and networking opportunities, ensuring that artists are not only showcased but also equipped with the visibility and industry relationships required to build sustainable careers within the broader art economy.

A total of six (6) artists funded by the NAC were chosen through a closed call process, evaluated by a selection panel that included members from both the NAC and the RMB Latitudes Art Fair, as well as representatives from the NAC Visual Arts Advisory Panel. This thorough selection process guarantees curatorial integrity, fairness, and alignment with the programme’s strategic objectives.
The collaboration further exemplifies the NAC’s mission to support, promote, and develop the vibrant arts sector in South Africa. Through the INDEX 2026 platform, the Council is actively working to eliminate barriers to entry and expand access for a variety of artistic voices. This initiative highlights a sustained commitment to innovation, inclusion, and the promotion of sustainable creative careers, ensuring that the arts remain a dynamic arena for growth, transformation, and opportunity.
