The recently appointed Chancellor of Nelson Mandela University, Dr. Naledi Pandor, recently engaged in an interview with Varsha Gandikota-Nelluta, the General Coordinator of Progressive International.

They discussed the current distribution of power within the international order and whether the Global South can come together to counterbalance the influence of the United States. In this episode, the two emphasised the significance of international solidarity and the lessons that can be drawn from South Africa’s fight against apartheid.

Dr. Pandor is a distinguished politician and academic who has held six ministerial positions in South Africa’s post-apartheid government. As the foreign minister, she led South Africa’s case regarding genocide against Israel at the International Court of Justice. Currently, she is the Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Nelson Mandela Foundation and also serves as the Chancellor of NMU.
