The Zabalaza Theatre Festival continues to be at the heart of The Baxter, representing one of the most significant events on its yearly schedule. Celebrating 16 years of promoting local narratives, emerging talents, community engagement, artistic excellence, and the future generation of theatre creators.
The Baxter is invigorated with innovative new works, fresh perspectives, and compelling South African narratives across all its venues. Featuring 16 productions in the main programme along with an additional six special performances—totaling 106 artists—the festival provides an enriching theatrical experience, with all ticket revenues being reinvested directly into the artists and theatre companies.
